Henning Cedmar-Brandstedt kindly drew my attention to a sweet bit of serendiptous trivia today\u2026 it seems that in 1933, a mere three years after El Lissitzy designed his famous poster <em>Russische Ausstellung 1929<\/em> (a copy of which I have hanging in my home and about which I posted last year <a href=\"http:\/\/www.robertlpeters.com\/news\/?p=549\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>), the Swedish Socialist Party (Women\u2019s League) created a <em>valaffisch<\/em> (election poster) which borrows directly the \u2018merged heads\u2019 (depicting gender equality) first used by El Lissitzky. The kicker? In a 2006 poll of Swedish union members the derivative poster was voted as \u201cthe best looking poster in Swedish history\u201d\u2014methinks El Lissitzky would be proud.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #999999;\"><em>Thanks, Henning!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Somewhere in Sweden What goes around comes around, right?
