It is the first\u00a0national museum to be built since 1967, the first ever to be located\u00a0outside of the National Capital Region, and\u00a0the first museum in the world solely dedicated to the evolution, celebration, and future of human rights.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremonial stamp unveiling took place at\u00a0the west base of the Esplanade Riel pedestrian bridge on Mahatma Gandhi Way, and was covered by various local and national media outlets (e.g. <a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/canada-post-celebrates-opening-canadian-160000858.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/1517736\/canada-post-issues-canadian-museum-for-human-rights-stamp\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/metronews.ca\/news\/winnipeg\/1131678\/canadian-museum-for-human-rights-honoured-with-stamp\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.winnipegsun.com\/2014\/08\/20\/human-rights-museum-featured-on-new-mail-stamp\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Canada Post&#8217;s stamps tell stories of our history, our heritage and our Canadian identity. The Canadian Museum for Human Rights will invite the world to reflect on human rights struggles \u2013 both inspiring and tragic \u2013 and encourage action for a better future. This stamp commemorates a symbol of our global human rights aspirations, told through a uniquely Canadian lens,&#8221; says\u00a0Deepak Chopra, President and CEO, Canada Post.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian Museum for Human Rights permanent\u00a0rate stamp measures 40 mm x 40 mm and is available in booklets of 10 stamps. An Official First Day Cover has\u00a0also been issued, measuring 191 mm x 113 mm and cancelled in Winnipeg.
