Billed as \u201cthe most beautiful marathon in the world,\u201d the 42-km race starts to the blare of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alphorn\" target=\"_blank\">alpenhorns<\/a> in the lakeside city of Interlaken with a relatively flat first half before gaining a total of 1800(!) vertical meters and an alpine finish on the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kleine_Scheidegg\" target=\"_blank\">Kleine Scheidegg<\/a> across from the famous north faces of the <a href=\"http:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/b\/bc\/M\u00e4nnlichen.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">Eiger, M\u00f6nch, and Jungfrau<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #999999;\">Best wishes\u2026 and congratulations <em>(in advance)<\/em>!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Interlaken, Switzerland My brother Phil and his sprightly wife Tammy are preparing for the scenic but grueling Jungfrau Marathon this weekend.
