{"id":74,"date":"2003-10-27T18:50:54","date_gmt":"2003-10-28T01:50:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.robertlpeters.com\/news\/?p=74"},"modified":"2018-11-24T01:37:17","modified_gmt":"2018-11-23T20:37:17","slug":"hangzhou-wuxi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/robertlpeters.com\/news\/hangzhou-wuxi\/","title":{"rendered":"Hangzhou &amp; Wuxi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.robertlpeters.com\/news2013\/wp-content\/uploads\/hangzhou.jpg\" alt=\"hangzhou.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.robertlpeters.com\/news2013\/wp-content\/uploads\/hangzhou1.jpg\" alt=\"hangzhou1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Hangzhou, China<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On 15 October I flew to Hangzhou, China (a beautiful and prosperous \u201cmodest-sized\u201d city in the Yangtze River Delta with a population of 6.5 million) to participate on the jury of the <em>1st China International Poster Biennial, 2003<\/em> along with Yu Bingnan, Chen Shaohua, Michel Bouvet, Ralph Schraivogel, Wang Yuefei, and Zhao Yan. This first international poster biennial organized in China drew submissions of 2070 posters from 520 designers in 40 different countries. For more information re: the Biennial, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cipb.org\" target=\"_blank\">www.cipb.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.robertlpeters.com\/news2013\/wp-content\/uploads\/markx.jpg\" alt=\"markx.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Wuxi, China<\/em><\/p>\n<p>After several days in and around Hangzhou, a small party of us headed off for the opening of the <em>\u201cMark X\u201d International Poster Show 2003<\/em> in the city of Wuxi, a half-day drive by bus. As described by the organizers, the School of Design, Southern Yangtze University, the exhibition\u2019s theme <em>\u201cMark X,\u201d<\/em> acts as \u201ca totem representing the unknown, denoting the rebellious spirit\u2026 the unknown is like the other shore for the boat of creativity\u2026 only by taking a new perspective can one peek at the future.\u201d The pomp and ceremony of the opening event was taken in by large and very enthusiastic crowds. I felt privileged to have been named the event\u2019s Honorary Director, and to have had the opportunity of participating in this memorable undertaking.
